Local Counsel

Sandak Hennessey & Greco frequently serves as local counsel for clients and for out-of-state attorneys in litigation and transactional matters having a connection to Connecticut. The Firm has represented and worked with national and international clients and law firms who expect top flight legal services from their Connecticut counsel. Consistent with the obligations imposed by the local state and federal rules, Sandak Hennessey & Greco guides lead counsel through the maze of local rules and procedures, and provides substantive advice, while remaining sensitive to the established client relationship that lead counsel has with the mutual client.

Based upon the Firm's extensive trial experience in state and federal courts, we are often asked to serve as local counsel for clients who need to commence or defend litigation in Connecticut. Typically, these requests develop from out of state firms which retain the primary responsibility for the litigation. Sandak Hennessey & Greco has assisted out-of-state counsel in wide range of cases including complex commercial disputes, securities cases, insurance coverage disputes, toxic tort cases, class actions, personal injury and medical malpractice matters. Based on the preferences of the client and out-of-state counsel, the Firm can take on as expansive or as limited a role as a case requires.

On multi-state transactional matters, Sandak Hennessey & Greco often serves as Connecticut counsel to develop the necessary opinion letters interpreting the application of Connecticut law to the client's transaction. On multi-state real estate or zoning transactions, in particular, Sandak Hennessey & Greco provides enforceability opinions and perfection opinions under Connecticut law, and provides guidance to the client's lead counsel about Connecticut-specific provisions required in the documentation.
